Freinds Meeting House, York St, Bath, 19.30pm

Bath Stop War Coalition members have been discussing the links between our group and other groups concerned with justice, peace and climate change, (to which many of us also belong).

We are planning to hold an open meeting with other groups on Weds March 10th to discuss how we can make the links between our separate but connected campaigns.  The title will be "Peace, Justice and Environmental Protection - a Common Platform?"

We should be really pleased if any interested members from local campaign groups would come to the meeting.  Diana Francis from Bath Stop War / CND will open the meeting, after which there will be a general discussion of possible ways of linkingthe issues for which we all campaign to achieve a just, peaceful, sustainable world.

Friends of the Earth locally are considering a pre election forum to discuss policies with local candidates.  Bath Stop War Coalition is also considering this type of pre election meeting and one of the issues we would like to discuss is planning a joint pre election meeting between various campaigning groups and the candidates.

Start: 20:30
End: 23:00

Come and join us at Bath Green Drinks to chat and mingle with some of the more environmentally minded people in the area. Share ideas, discuss the latest issues, find out whats other people are involved with.

We'll be in the The Rising Sun, from 8.30pm. (If you havent been there, it is a cosy, traditional pub in Grove Street: just over Pultney Bridge, then first left. map).

Anyone interested in environmental issues is welcome.

Bath Green Drinks is one of hundreds of Green Drinks groups that meet regularly in cities around the world. For more details, see www.greendrinks.org.

Oxfam is part of a coalition working to raise awareness of maternal health and mortality this Mother's Day. There are 2 actions they are asking people to do:

-       Sign an e-card yourself here: http://www.oxfam.org.uk/get_involved/campaign/actions/mothers_day.html asking our party political leaders to sign up to a Mum's Manifesto. This asks the next UK government to:

- Increase financing for maternal, newborn and child health internationally
- Place maternal, newborn and child health at the heart of all health systems
- Make sexual and reproductive rights a reality for women and girls

-       Get members of the public to sign a real life card including the same Manifesto. It's a lovely (the front can be seen in the weblink above!). The details are laid out on the card, and people can sign one to each leader, so two cards in one go! To get as many people in Bath to sign as possible, we’re holding a stall in Green Park Station on March 13th between 9am – 1pm. Can you spare an hour to help man the stall?! If so, please email oxfambath@yahoo.co.uk, it would be lovely to see you there :)

Let’s show Gordon, David & Nick what the people of Bath think!!

Hope you can make it on the 13th
